Pro7 Maerchenstunde (2006)

I did the Supervision for the ProSieben Maerchenstunde for the first series.

It was at the time when I was co-CEO at quadrigaFX. Time framing was about 8 months for more than 180 effect shots.

A lot of them were just simple magic effects or image fixing like wire removing. But there were several sequences that really challenged the team and me. For example the episode with the dragon, that was a really hard one and a money shot for the production company.

In the end I supervised a team of up to 23 people, coordinated artists sitting in england. Due to the limited time given I also had to do a lot of stuff:

Preparing the material for final quality while the artists did the effects, meaning, splitting the image in 4 parts and tracking each one, putting it all together to get the material steady, it was poorly scanned and processed.

Help developing the pipeline for the dragon.

The Towershot you can see on the reel was entirely done by me. The same tower was used for dozens of shots as set extension where the actors hang on ropes and fight. I did the extension there, too.

A lot of rotowork, rendering, compositing. For example the shot where the guy flys on his carpet was entirely done by me.

It were so many shots that it would blow up this page. Most of them are invisible fixes that would only make sense with the before/after footage. For example the frog on the reel that smashes against the camera. 1 bg plate, 1 frog plate thrown on a plastic thingie. Horrible work, just horrible, and I don't mean because it was a frog (it was a fake one) but all this jelly and semitransparent stuff. Just a nightmare.
